There are indications that the executive members of Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU, are set to commence their meeting soon to take a position on the ongoing strike.

Although it is not certain yet, the union might temporarily suspend its ongoing strike which has lasted for over six months.

Already members of the Executives led by prof. Emmanuel Osokode have converged in Abuja and the make or mar meeting is taking place at the University of Abuja campus, where ASUU headquarters is currently situated.

Although some state universities have pulled out of the strike, today’s meeting may review the ongoing strike and deliberate extensively on the state congresses decisions regarding the industrial action.

Recall that the Federal Government had last week insisted on a no work no pay policy against the striking academicians, a development that didnt go down well with the striking union.

Other sister unions such as the Non Academic Staff Union of University and Allied Institutions NASU, the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities SSANU and the National Association of Academic Technologists NAAT have suspended their actions.
